1. The Air Compressor Doesn't Work At All

If your air compressor is not old and there is no reason for it not to work, the problem might stem from somewhere else. For example, it is possible that the electrical outlet that the compressor is plugged into is out of order. You might need to turn on a circuit breaker that has tripped and cut off electricity to the outlet. Try plugging the air compressor into a different outlet to see if it resolves the problem.

2. Running the Air Compressor Produces a Burning Odor

A burning odor is a major problem, and you might want to discontinue using the air compressor until a repair is made. The odor likely stems from an internal part overheating, such as the motor. You might need to put more oil in the air compressor so the motor can properly function. One of the common things that can go wrong with an intake filter is an accumulation of contaminants. Once the contaminants are removed, the discharge pressure might go up to a satisfactory level.

4. The Motor Runs More Quietly

Air compressors are known for being loud. If the air compressor motor has become more quiet, it might be going out. You will notice that the air compressor does not work in a powerful manner if the motor is in bad shape. Before moving forward with replacing the motor, make sure an insufficient amount of oil isn't the cause of the motor malfunctioning.
